No. 4: DB Keith Reaser

Cornerback Keith Reaser was another of one Trent Baalke’s “All-ACL” picks, taken in fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. With a lot of young defensive backs on the roster, such as Dontae Johnson and Kenneth Acker, Reaser didn’t see much action in his first few years in the league.

After sitting out 2014, he came back in 2015, only accounting for eight tackles no passes defensed or interceptions. He saw limited playing action, but didn’t perform well enough in practice to jump over the current starters.

He had a better performance in 2016, with 26 tackles, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles, but he might have hit his ceiling as well.

With defensive backs Rashard Robinson and Tramaine Brock manning the outside and newly-added CB K’Waun Williams to man the slot, there isn’t much of a role for Reaser.

Dontae Johnson, Will Redmond and Jimmie Ward will likely be additional depth this upcoming season. The 49ers will also look to add more corners in a loaded draft class.

With all that, it looks like Reaser should not be back on the 53-man roster.
