Quarterback Matt Barkley

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reported QB Matt Barkley signed with the 49ers for a two-year contract:

A solid contract for a backup quarterback, but let’s take a finer look at the numbers, according to Over the Cap.

2017 Cap Number: $1,809,375

Base Salary: $1,400,000

Prorated Bonus: $250,000

Roster Bonus: $250,000

Workout Bonus: $50,000

2018 Cap Number: $2,050,000

Base Salary: $1,500,000

Prorated Bonus: $250,000

Roster Bonus: $250,000

Workout Bonus: $50,000

John Lynch signed the backup quarterback to a very reasonable contract. He’ll likely be adding at least two more quarterbacks, but this is a solid contract to begin with.
