49ers NFL Draft Prospect Watch: Making the Case for RB Kareem Hunt
By Peter Panacy
The San Francisco 49ers are likely to bring in a running back in the NFL Draft. Niner Noise takes a look at Toledo’s Kareem Hunt and determines if he’d be a mid-round possibility.
The San Francisco 49ers will need reinforcements behind running back Carlos Hyde this offseason.
Unless head coach Kyle Shanahan is banking his hopes on the underachieving Mike Davis, the Niners would be wise to bring in an up-and-coming tailback, or two, in April’s NFL Draft.
One of the players of interest should be Toledo running back Kareem Hunt.

Hunt fits into what San Francisco needs in a number of key areas.
First, we can expect the Niners to use their first two picks on glaring areas of weakness. Positions like an edge rusher, wide receiver, defensive back or quarterback come to mind.
But considering this year’s draft class is very deep at running back, spending a mid-round pick on Hunt wouldn’t be a bad idea.
CBS Sports projects Hunt to be a fourth-round pick.
The Niners are also intrigued. Per KNBR’s Kevin Jones, the 49ers met with Hunt at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
So let’s take a little bit of a deeper look into Hunt’s draft profile and see if he’d be worth a mid-round selection.
