Round 6, No. 186: DL DeAngelo Brown

Building on John Lynch’s admiration of the line, the 49ers look to bolster their rush defense with the selection of DeAngelo Brown.

Brown is an interior lineman, and a big one at it too, weighing in at 317 pounds. The 49ers already have their nose tackle in place with the signing of free agent Earl Mitchell. And Brown would fall in after that, competing with Mike Purcell for the backup spot.

That would give time to Brown to adjust to the speed of the game and the opportunity to learn the professionalism needed in the NFL, as Mitchell has been praised as a high character guy.

What the 49ers will be getting is a presence in the middle of the line that can disrupt plays. The Louisville product owns the strength needed at the next level (via ESPN’s Kevin Weidl):
