Round 5, No. 161: QB Josh Dobbs

(Pick from the Washington Redskins)

Top 300 ranking: 174

Another future’s pick, Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs is someone the 49ers would hope to develop over the years.

Matt Miller is reporting that the 49ers don’t value this year’s quarterback draft class.

” … the way I hear it the 49ers don’t currently value the quarterbacks in this class as top picks,” Miller wrote.

The signings of quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley reinforce that idea and make it that more likely the 49ers invest their picks elsewhere for the first early rounds of the draft.

Dobbs is an athletic quarterback; he possesses speed and agility you don’t come across often at quarterback but can also sling it. In his last collegiate game, all of that was on display (from Tennessee Football):

It’ll certainly be a project for Shanahan and Co.
