With the first few days of NFL free agency behind us, the San Francisco 49ers still have 27 open roster spots left to fill. Here are five available free agents that could help the 49ers in this upcoming season.

Before NFL free agency began, John Lynch spoke to KNBR’s Kevin Jones and had a message for all of the fans:

"Stay awake. We need players. We’ve got ourselves in a situation with certain pieces that we’ve made priorities and certain type of guys so that we don’t have to go into the draft saying, we have to have this."

Well Lynch did not seize to disappoint. He and the rest of the 49ers’ front office came out firing and signed free agents to fill out a depleted roster.

The 49ers had over $100 million in cap space coming into free agency and have spent a chunk of it in the first few days.

Lynch and Co. went out and signed wide receivers Pierre Garcon, Marquise Goodwin and Aldrick Robinson. He added linebackers Malcolm Smith and Brock Coyle, FB Kyle Juszczyk and S Don Jones.

Since there were no quarterbacks on the roster, the 49ers also signed Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley. With the departure of K Phil Dawson, Lynch filled the hole with K Robbie Gould.

But still, there are a lot of holes on the roster. The 49ers could use more depth on the defensive line, another play-making linebacker and some help in the defensive backfield.

The majority of their signings have strengthened the offense, but the defensive depth is still lacking.

Here are five available free agents that are capable of helping the 49ers in 2017.
