No. 1: DL Jonathan Allen

Coming into the NFL Scouting Combine, Alabama’s Jonathan Allen was the safest pick behind DE Myles Garrett.

Pro Football Focus’ Steve Palazzolo had Garrett going No. 1 to the Browns and Allen going No. 2 to the 49ers in his first mock draft.

After the combine, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller is hearing that the Alabama stud might not be drafted until the mid-teens.

But why did he drop from the potential No. 2 pick all the way to the mid-teens? Well it didn’t help that he didn’t perform well in any of the combine events. Allen had a mediocre 21 reps on the bench press and a 5.00 second 40-yard dash.

To top all of this off, there were concerns about arthritis in his shoulders. As a defensive lineman, shoulders are a major part of his game. These concerns over arthritis could scare teams from drafting Allen.

It’ll be interesting to see where Allen falls to in the draft. He had a really good season at Alabama, but after the combine, Allen could be sliding down the board.
