No. 4: WR Brandon Marshall

Over an eight season period, wide receiver Brandon Marshall was simply one of the best receivers in the league. Even with changing teams three teams, Marshall found a way to perform on the field.

That trend has come to a halt recently. Two out of the past three seasons, Marshall’s play has been mediocre, at best.

Taking away the 2015 campaign (which can be attributed to quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s anomaly of a season where he passed for 3905 yards and 31 TD’s), Marshall hasn’t eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark since 2013.

That’s an alarming trend, and considering Marshall is 32-years-old, that trend is more likely than not going to continue as speed and power tend to wan over time. Speed is what the new regime would like to predicate their offense on, and Marshall doesn’t fit that mold. The 49ers need players trending upwards and with potential.
