The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine is set to get underway this week. You’ve heard the big names –Myles Garrett, Leonard Fournette– but what about Cooper Kupp? Or Zay Jones? Let’s preview five FCS prospects the San Francisco 49ers should keep an eye on.

Ever since the conclusion of the college football season, scouts and analysts have been dissecting the pool of players who are preparing for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Time and time again you have most likely heard the top-tier names mentioned, like Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, LSU running back Leonard Fournette or Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster. And rightfully so; all three are some of the top players in this year’s draft.

But there’s far more to the draft than just the top names. There are the diamonds in the rough, players that go under the radar due to the level of competition they faced while in college.

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson, who starred at FCS-level University of Northern Iowa, is the most recent one of those diamonds. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (Delaware) is another.

Let’s take a look at this year’s crop of FCS players and which ones the 49ers should be monitoring at the combine.
