The San Francisco 49ers didn’t help their cause much by falling 33-21 to the visiting Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football. Niner Noise assigns grades to each unit and tries to figure out what happened.

It’s a different week but the same old story for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Niners fell 33-21 to a struggling Arizona Cardinals team on Thursday Night Football, in a game which reaffirmed San Francisco doesn’t have an answer at quarterback and numerous other positions across the board.

Head coach Chip Kelly is coaching a talent-strapped team right now. While he can bear some of the blame for what’s happening in Santa Clara, the 49ers simply aren’t very good.

At all.

San Francisco can’t stop the run, wide receivers — outside of Jeremy Kerley — aren’t making plays and the offensive line isn’t exactly looking like the vastly improved unit fans thought it would be this season.

No, these Week 5 grades won’t be fun.

Are there any bright spots? Sure. There are a few. And we’ll get to those in this postgame breakdown.

But the wide majority of grades won’t be good. So brace yourselves accordingly.
