Final Projections for the 49ers’ 53-man Roster

Tight End

Active Roster: Vance McDonald, Garrett Celek, Blake Bell, Bruce Miller

Cut: Je’Ron Hamm

With Vance McDonald further cementing his status as Gabbert’s favorite target, there was never any doubt over his roster spot, and Garrett Celek, who improved as a pass-catcher last season and remains a good blocker, should also be safe.

Blake Bell and Bruce Miller have not exactly had outstanding preseasons, but the former is the most athletic tight end of the group while Miller has special teams and leadership value.

McDonald remains the standout of the group, and the Niners will be looking for big contributions from this quartet to help make up for the deficiency in talent at wideout.
