Significant 49ers Injuries

The 49ers dealt with some major injuries versus the Packers last week. And many will carry over against the Chargers and even into the regular season.

Preseason injuries are hard to assess because teams aren’t required to post official injury reports until the regular season.

But we know No. 1 running back Carlos Hyde suffered a concussion last week, and he’ll have to go through the NFL’s protocol on head injuries before returning.

Fortunately, Hyde has cleared protocols allowing him to partake in non-football activities, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

It’s doubtful Hyde will play Thursday though.

Defensive tackle Quinton Dial injured his knee against Green Bay and is not going to play the final preseason game, per the team’s website.

But, according to Ryan Sakamoto of NinerFans.com, Dial should be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

The final significant injury is one that hurts the most. Wide receiver Bruce Ellington suffered a significant hamstring injury and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Not helpful to a young and inexperienced 49ers receiving corps.
