Colin Kaepernick in San Diego

Let’s not dive into the ethical and first-amendment arguments surrounding Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest the national anthem by sitting during the song.

Chances are, you already have drawn conclusions and have seen the controversy and arguments made from those in favor or against his actions.

Kap plans on doing the exact same thing until he feels as if things change. And that means he’ll be sitting again during the national anthem in San Diego.

For those who don’t know, San Diego is a huge military city. The port is a major base for the US Navy. The Navy SEALS train in nearby Coronado, and anyone who has seen the movie Top Gun can speak of nearby Miramar.

So it’s only fitting the Chargers will host the 29th annual Salute to the Military game when the Niners come to town.

“To me, this is a freedom that we’re allowed in this country,” Kaepernick said, via Nick Wagoner of ESPN. “And going back to the military, it’s a freedom that men and women that have fought for this country have given me this opportunity by contributions they have made. So I don’t see it as going about it the wrong way.”

It’s doubtful anything would go the “wrong way.” But keep an eye on the reactions from the large crowd at Qualcomm Stadium.

If and when Kaepernick sits, there’s certainly going to be a major reaction.
