By the Numbers

So far, the 49ers have amassed over 800 yards of offense in two preseason games, breaking the 400-yard mark both times. As a defensive unit, they have allowed over 600 yards, 400 of them against the Broncos.

Though their numbers allowed seems a bit high, fans need to factor in that the first-team defense is usually off the field well before halftime.

The Green Bay Packers have amassed 607 total yards of offense in two preseason contests, while only allowing 383 yards. Though they haven’t had as much success as the 49ers on offense, their defense has been more effective in terms of containing their opponents.

Their next meeting in preseason Week 3 figures to be a showdown. Quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Aaron Rodgers have been unavailable to play since suffering injuries from last season.

As leaders, they will not only look to rebound effectively, but they will be showing the fans that neither of them have lost a step.

Fans should expect a lot of action from the first team offense on both sides. However, the defense of the 49ers figures to be more effective in terms of pass rush and stopping the run.
