Jimmie Ward vs. Aaron Rodgers and Co.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t suit up for Green Bay’s second preseason bout against the Oakland Raiders.

And third-year defensive back Jimmie Ward hasn’t exactly been tested much either.

Rodgers certainly will see plenty of action against the 49ers. And while there may be some concerns how the Packers receiving corps will shape up this season, it’s hard to view Green Bay’s passing game as anything else but an elite-level attack.

Ward, who appears to have a lock on a starting cornerback job, will face his biggest test of the preseason this weekend.

San Francisco hasn’t exactly faced top-tier quarterbacks so far. The Texans’ Brock Osweiler has yet to prove himself and, no, a combination of Denver’s Trevor Siemian or Mark Sanchez isn’t a matchup to watch either.

But Rodgers is.

And it will be interesting to see how Ward responds.
