Emergence from Niners’ Young Wide Receivers

So far, two preseason games haven’t exactly been kind to San Francisco’s wide receiver development.

We know No. 1 wideout Torrey Smith will be fine. And the offense will probably feature a lot of fellow receiver Bruce Ellington, who has been limited by minor injuries this preseason. Quinton Patton has had a good training camp too.

But who else?

Second-year pro Dres Anderson could be a player to watch. He hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass versus the Denver Broncos last week, and is just as good a candidate to secure a roster spot this season.

But, as the Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows noted on KNBR 680 last week, no one has really stepped up and secured the remaining slots at wide receiver so far.

Will the contest versus Green Bay reveal something different?
