How Much Time Does Quarterback Jeff Driskel Get?

The 49ers held quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of practice at the tail end of this week, which puts his chances for starting, or even playing, Sunday in danger.

Let’s get to that in a bit, but this opens up the door for rookie QB Jeff Driskel.

Even if Kap isn’t good to go, fellow quarterback Blaine Gabbert will probably get first-unit reps to start the game. But Driskel, who has emerged in training camp, should see a fair number of chances too.

Yes, Driskel has been impressing in camp. Just take a look at the following video, courtesy of Niners Wire’s Rob Lowder:

Driskel is on the ascent, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Niners’ sixth-round pick actually start games towards the tail end of the season. San Francisco will want to know what it has under center before addressing any quarterback questions next offseason.

The rookie will have a chance to showcase his budding talents against a defense with which he’s not totally familiar.

How will Driskel do?
