Left Outside Linebacker

V1.0 Assessment:

Starter: Ahmad Brooks

Backup: Corey Lemonier

V2.0 Assessment:

Starter: Ahmad Brooks

Backup: Tank Carradine

Finally a bit of a change here.

Outside linebacker Corey Lemonier’s roster spot might have been saved, for now, with the four-game suspension of pass-rushing linebacker Aaron Lynch. But that won’t keep Lemonier from being buried on the depth chart.

EDGE Tank Carradine might also not be utilized as a strict pass-rusher either, which is the reason he gets the bump over Lemonier in our second assessment of the depth chart.

Grant Cohn of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat described some of Carradine’s recent efforts in training camp:

"[Carradine] broke up a pass intended for third-string slot receiver Bryce Treggs during 7 on 7s, and set a powerful edge against the run during 11 on 11s. Defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil was so impressed with Carradine’s run defense after one play, O’Neil ran onto the field and bumped chests with him."

Carradine’s efforts against the run likely move him up the charts.
