The San Francisco 49ers have more than a handful of interesting position battles to watch in training camp this year.

Technically, each position on a team’s roster has a camp battle of importance. In years past, however, these positional bouts were all but decided for the red and gold. Under former head coach Jim Harbaugh, there were relatively few spaces up for grabs.

The wide majority of positions were already decided long before training camp started.

2016 is vastly different.

Under new head coach Chip Kelly, the 49ers are looking to turn a page on what was an underachieving and lackluster 2015 campaign. And San Francisco’s current 90-man roster, while promising in some areas, doesn’t exactly boast widespread talent either.

But this opens up the door for some interesting camp battles to watch as the offseason draws to a close.

So what are the most intriguing ones as training camp heats up?

Niner Noise details the five best to watch in 2016.
