No. 10: Cornerback Keith Reaser

Third-year cornerback Keith Reaser likely isn’t a beneficiary of the 49ers adding three corners via the 2016 NFL Draft, as Ryan Sakamoto of NinerFans.com pointed out a few months ago:

And the Santa Rosa Press Democrat’s Grant Cohn wasn’t particularly impressed with Reaser’s efforts during minicamp either. Cohn wrote:

"Beaten over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, including twice for touchdowns. Reaser might be the least confident cornerback I’ve ever seen in the NFL. He almost looks like he expects to get beaten."

Reaser, who had a mere 82 snaps last season, was probably a long shot to make the roster in 2016.

But a strong pass breakup early in training camp, as shown here by Taylor Price of 49ers.com, could go a long way in ensuring Reaser retains a role — likely at nickel at this point.

True, it’s just one play. But these are going to be the kinds of plays Reaser needs to make to stick around this season.
