Kicker Phil Dawson

2016 ESPN Fantasy Projection: 110.6 points

OK, so kickers aren’t technically sleepers because, well, if you’re sleeping on a kicker… you seriously need to reevaluate your draft strategy.

A kicker should round out your final pick on draft day, but keep an eye on 49ers kicker Phil Dawson. Why? Well we know head coach Chip Kelly’s uptempo offense should invigorate what was a league-worst unit a year ago. So that should help you generate plenty of extra-point attempts.

But Kelly’s offense isn’t going to automatically wind up netting a ton of touchdowns for a red-zone-challenged Niners team either.

“Settling for three” may wind up being yet another theme to a talent-strapped offense in San Francisco this season.

That’s good for Dawson — who converted 24 of 27 field-goal attempts and missed just one extra-point try.

All at 40 years of age last year.
