The past three-plus years haven’t exactly put the San Francisco 49ers into a position of success.

Dating back to the 2012 NFL Draft, the Niners organization has been plagued by a series of poor decisions, front-office mistakes and a series of other circumstances, which have relegated a proud franchise to a laughingstock of the NFL.

While most of these gaffes can’t be overlooked, the 49ers have made a number of good decisions in recent seasons. And the team should get credit where it’s due.

Yes, the hiring of former defensive line coach Jim Tomsula to head coach the team in 2015 was a mistake. Likely, so was letting former head coach Jim Harbaugh go. And all the rumors and leaks surrounding the organization in recent years were a major issue.

But let’s focus on the good things San Francisco has done instead.

As training camp and the 2016 regular season approach, Niner Noise breaks down five of the best decisions the 49ers have made this offseason.

Some may be pretty simple to assess, while others might be a little more “off the radar.”

At any rate, these decisions will play a critical role in determining whether or not the Niners can get back on track in coming years.
