San Francisco 49ers: 5 Bold Predictions for Training Camp
By Peter Panacy
San Francisco 49ers training camp will begin at the tail end of July, and a lot is on the table as 90 players look to make the regular-season roster. With plenty of position battles pending, Niner Noise makes some bold predictions for this important session in this training camp preview.
NFL training camp is the most important offseason session leading up to any regular season and, for the San Francisco 49ers, more than a handful of questions need to be addressed as the team gears up for its 2016 campaign.
The 49ers have more than just a couple of roster spots and position battles to watch. This is no longer the Niners team of the early part of the decade — one with only a handful of open spots.
No, the 2016 49ers are an entirely different group. And various positions — such as wide receiver, cornerback, the offensive line, linebacker group and defensive line — could all see some serious shake-ups by the time Week 1 rolls around.
Chief among the questions will be how San Francisco whittles down its current 90-man roster. Fifty-three players will eventually make the team. The rest will either be cut, placed on various injury lists or find their way onto the practice squad.
So with this backdrop in mind, Niner Noise takes a look at five bold predictions for camp.
These won’t be the cut-and-dry predictions that follow the national narrative. No, let’s go bold here and try to take some out-of-the-box perspectives on what might happen during camp.
The context is already there, so let’s try to reach just a bit further in this training camp preview.
