Wide Receiver Dres Anderson

I was a big fan of former Utah wideout Dres Anderson when he came out of college in 2015, and it wasn’t unreasonable to assume he would be a fourth- or fifth-round pick.

Yet the 49ers picked him up as an undrafted free agent, but Anderson wasn’t able to see the field his rookie year as he recovered from a collegiate knee injury.

But the intangibles at the college level were there, as shown in the DraftBreakdown.com video below:

At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Anderson doesn’t exactly have the physique to make him a tough, physically gifted receiver. But he has excellent hands.

Those hands were on display during 49ers minicamp, and he was one of a few standouts able to make more than a solid impression.

The Niners have questions at wide receiver entering this season. Anderson may have a long ways to go before inserting himself into the discussion for a starting job on the 53-man roster, but a strong camp will go over well with San Francisco’s coaching staff and improve his chances.
