No. 8: 49ers quarterback Cody Pickett — 2004-2005

Quarterback Cody Pickett was selected by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and he entered the 2005 season as the fourth-string signal-caller. Pickett became the starter after a slew of injuries to fellow quarterbacks Alex Smith and Ken Dorsey, as well as Tim Rattay being traded.

Pickett’s stats with the 49ers consist of 195 yards passing, zero touchdowns and four interceptions. That 40-percent completion rate is awfully bad, too, so it’s safe to say San Francisco made the right decision not to keep Pickett in its plans after giving him a handful of shots to prove himself.

Smith became healthy and Pickett faded away, later being traded to the Houston Texans in 2006 and never saw the field for his new team. Or for anyone else for that matter.
