NFL teams are built and reinforced via the draft, although more than a handful of draft picks never pan out at the pro level. Niner Noise takes a look back at every San Francisco 49ers draft class during general manager Trent Baalke’s tenure — 2011 through 2016 — and breaks down where these draftees are now.

The San Francisco 49ers have had some very good picks ever since general manager Trent Baalke took over drafting duties in 2011.

And there have been some very bad ones as well.

Such is the nature of the NFL Draft. All too often, players projected and selected as top-five or top-10 guys wind up going bust in a hurry. And, in many cases, late-round picks wind up becoming perennial Pro Bowlers and standout contributors.

For the 49ers — a team going through a complete roster rebuild in 2016 — the hopes are Baalke’s recent efforts will generate more of the former.

Baalke has had his fair share of gaffes as well as great years. And the same could be said of more than a few general managers around the league. The NFL Draft is a scientific wild guess in every sense of the phrase.

So how did the Niners get here?

There are many reasons. But a big chunk is due to the results from the drafts dating back to 2011. So let’s take an in-depth look at each player San Francisco selected in the draft during Baalke’s tenure and point out where he is now.
