Run Blocking

As mentioned on the previous slide, Smelter’s physicality and style of play helps him impose his will while displaying a violent and fierce blocking style on defenders, who must keep their head on a swivel at all times.

The running game benefits from Smelters blocking and, in fact, will generate more opportunities to sustain drives.

From Smelter’s blocking, the 49ers defense should get more chances to rest while also breeding confidence within the Niners offense.

Especially the running backs and, in particular, Carlos Hyde.
