Physicality and Style Of Play

Smelter has been compared to a younger version of unsigned 49ers free-agent wide receiver Anquan Boldin, whose style of play needs no introduction.

Standing at 6′ 2″ and 226pounds, Smelter is a sizable load with which to contend and a problem to tackle and bring down.

Take a look at some of his highlight reel when San Francisco made the choice to draft him a year ago:

It is not just his size, but his style of play as well. Smelter plays like he looks — big, strong, tough and physical, which was pointed out previously on Niner Noise and reinforced the phrase, “big people beat up little people,” which is the theme both head coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke live by.
