Ronald Blair, DE, Appalachian State

After a few years time, defensive end Ronald Blair may be considered one of the steals in the 2016 draft.

Widely given a third-round grade, Baalke was able to find outstanding value for a fifth-round selection in Blair.

Blair plays with a motor and intensity that jumps off the film, while also showcasing the versatility to play at all spots within the defensive line in multiple formations. Dane Brugler of CBSSports.com highlights Blair’s ability:

"He rushes with balance and refinement and prefers to play with violence, beating up blockers and disrupting their rhythm. Blair plays with a brawling mentality, but not at the expense of the play, shedding blocks and quickly finding the ball due to his instinctive feel at the line of scrimmage. He isn’t an elite speed athlete around the corner, but he understands his strengths and uses them to win one-on-one match-ups in a variety of ways to be a NFL starter."

Blair’s solid play and energy level will be a welcome addition on a defensive line that may see more snaps than they have in year’s past, given head coach Chip Kelly’s uptempo offense.
