The San Francisco 49ers have an interesting (but tough) 2016 schedule. They will play under new head coach Chip Kelly, and with the upcoming NFL Draft to improve the roster, may surprise some people. Niner Noise takes a look at the five most exciting games for 2016.

The 49ers have the hardest strength of schedule at .555 going into 2016. The usual suspects are always there (Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals), but the league has ensured that the first three weeks the 49ers will go through hell, fire and brimstone.

Week 1 there is the game against the “new” Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. In Week 2 there is the travel across the country to play the NFC Champion Carolina Panthers, and then fly to Seattle to face the Seahawks. We all know how well the 49ers do in Seattle. It’s not pretty.

To top that off, excluding the always tough divisional games, the 49ers have to go to Buffalo, Miami, Chicago, and Atlanta. At home, they get the New England Patriots (and quarterback Tom Brady’s first game against San Francisco in his home state of California), the New York Jets and their mystery QB, and the New Orleans Saints, Drew Brees and almost 49ers head coach Sean Payton.

Phew.

The potential for a great football game will be included in this list. Potential injuries to key players could influence the game in question, but will have no bearing here. Human nature will appear in some cases because, well, we all have other teams we find stronger or more interesting than others.
