The 2016 NFL Draft may be the make-or-break point for San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke.

Baalke has been tasked with rebuilding a roster, which is coming off a 5-11 finish in 2015 and ranked at, or near the bottom, of nearly every significant offensive and defensive category. In short, the 49ers are full of holes and more than their fair share of positions.

So the onus falls on Baalke to determine the best route in which to take the Niners back to prominence.

And it all starts with the draft, as well as the preparation leading up to it.

Yet Baalke and the 49ers are faced with some critical questions, which will need answers. And those answers will help determine what happens with this franchise at a critical crossroads.

From San Francisco’s plans with quarterback Colin Kaepernick all the way to which player the team will select with its first overall pick, the pressure will be on for this year’s NFL Draft to be extremely successful for the 49ers to turn their fortunes around.

As the draft approaches, Niner Noise takes a look at five of these burning questions facing the team as Baalke and Co. ready themselves for the NFL Draft to be held on April 28 through 30.
