2016 NFL Draft: Round-by-Round Mock for 49ers
Round 6, Pick 207: Rees Odhiambo, G, Boise State
Finally, a pick both Peter and I agree on! Both of us have the 49ers taking the raw, physical Kenyan late in the sixth round and developing him for future use.
Odhiambo played tackle in college, but his size and strength combination probably mean he’s best suited to move inside to guard. He’s still improving—he didn’t start playing organized football until high school, and has never played more than nine games in a season—but what he’s shown has been NFL caliber. He’s got great physical talent and surprising amounts of technique—he’s not just a mauler on the line. He probably works best in a zone scheme like the 49ers are planning to use, too. He’d be an option to draft and stick on the NFI list, letting him learn the system for a year without taking up a roster slot.
Other players considered:
- Antonio Morrison, OLB, Florida
- Landon Turner, G, North Carolina
- Travis Feeney, OLB, Washington
