Trent Baalke, general manager of the San Francisco 49ers, is on the cusp of what could be considered his most critical NFL Draft. With a league-leading 12 picks and the responsibility of rebuilding a franchise, how will Baalke prioritize?

Infamous for giving the media little to no indication of his intentions in regards to the draft, or almost anything, Trent Baalke believes there is no benefit to publicly announcing his interests.

Outside of anonymous rumors, this makes it exceedingly difficult to determine the direction the 49ers’general manager will take on what is (arguably) his most important draft.

Baalke’s past performance on draft day has been mediocre, at best.

For every promising selection, there has been an equal or greater number of “head-scratchers,” to include what can now be seen as a willingness to draft injured players that have yet to justify their choosing.

Bay Area Sports Guy details Baalke’s managerial successes and failures in outstanding detail here. It is a greatly encouraged read.

Despite having a large hand in the organization’s current, depleted state, Trent will undoubtedly press on, looking to mend what’s been broken.

What was once a beacon of consistent success, the 49ers franchise is now ground zero and Baalke, his scouting department along with his brand new coaching staff will look to complete the blueprints for rebuilding a roster.

For a task this monumental, the 49ers’ general manager will undoubtedly have a detailed list of priorities that he believes the organization must address in order to take steps toward success.
