Round 1: RB Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State

It’s clear the 49ers need to move on from No. 1 running back Carlos Hyde in 2016. Hyde’s injury concerns are simply too much for San Francisco to handle as was seen during the 2015 season.

And adding Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott would be a clear upgrade and bonus to head coach Chip Kelly’s offense.

An anonymous source told Niner Noise the 49ers are considering moving Hyde to fullback this season in a move that would give the offense two legitimate options at the position — the other being Bruce Miller.

Such a move would open up the door for Elliott to be a featured back on San Francisco’s offense.

Elliott would be the best option for the 49ers in Round 1, bar none.
