The month of April is upon us, and the San Francisco 49ers are counting down the days to the start of the 2016 NFL draft. With so many possibilities on the table, what will the Niners do starting April 28? Let’s mock it out.

The San Francisco 49ers are armed with a total of 12 picks in the upcoming 2016 NFL draft. That’s a lot of ammunition for a team right on the cusp of getting back to prominence.

Laden with talent already, the Niners only need a handful of splashy picks to turn this franchise into a Super Bowl contender. So general manager Trent Baalke doesn’t have to worry too much about hitting the proverbial “home run” with this year’s draft class.

Wait, what? But the 49ers finished 5-11 last year, right? How can this team be on the cusp of a playoff run?

The pieces are in place. San Francisco lured in one of the most proven pro coaches in Chip Kelly and solidified the defense with one of the best up-and-coming coordinators in Jim O’Neil. The team has three quarterbacks — Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert and Thad Lewis — capable of leading a team to a championship and a formidable offensive line led by budding superstars Brandon Thomas and Marcus Martin.

So it’s only fitting Niner Noise points out a mock draft capable of providing the 49ers with the pieces necessary to ensure a double-digit-wins season.

Starting off with the No. 7 pick in the NFL draft, let’s break down which players the Niners will grab in this April 1 mock.
