Charone Peake, WR, Clemson

Draft Stock: Round 3 to 4

The 49ers wide receiving corps is Torrey Smith, and then a host of mostly unproven talent. If Baalke chooses to forgo adding a top-tier WR in this draft, then the next best avenue he can take is one that fans the fire of competition within training camp.

Clemson’s Charone Peake is an intriguing day two or three prospect that presents exciting upside, considering the lack of attention he has been getting during the lead-up to the draft.

First, it’s important to note that Niner Noise’s own Jerod Brown has highlighted, in outstanding detail, the benefits of targeting Peake in the draft. It is highly recommended that you pay his piece a visit.

Peake, at 6’2″ and clocking a mid-4.4 second forty-yard dash, possesses a unique blend of size, speed, power and catch ability that makes him worthy of Baalke’s attention. He played with an attitude that you love to see at the position, consistently fighting for both the football and yards after the catch.

Charone may be under-the-radar now, but with a month before draft day, that could quickly change.
