With the attention turned toward the San Francisco 49ers’ first-round prospects, general manager Trent Baalke will also be looking to find starting-caliber talent in the later rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft. Which under-the-radar prospects should we expect him to target?

The extent of the 49ers’ positional needs extend far beyond those that can be addressed within the first, second, or even the third round of this year’s draft.

With the majority of the 49ers 12 draft picks falling within the fourth, fifth and sixth-round, Baalke will be expected to fill those needs with players that have less of a chance at impact than those taken in day one and two.

While challenging, this is what an NFL general manager is expected to do.

The stage is set for a massive haul of new players and Baalke will not only look to fill as many needs as possible, but search for the illusive “diamond in the rough,” or players that out-perform their draft stock.

Who can we expect him to target?

Let’s take a look at some of the options.
