Wide Receiver Marvin Jones

2015 Statistics

2015 Salary: $700,000

San Francisco needs significant offensive upgrades this offseason, and Cincinnati Bengals wideout Marvin Jones would be an ideal candidate who could step in and assist the Niners receiving crop right away.

At 6’1″ and 199 pounds, Jones has good size and speed to fit into head coach Chip Kelly’s offense.

Jones managed 65 catches for 816 receiving yards and four touchdowns despite being buried behind Bengals wideout A.J. Green and red-zone threat tight end Tyler Eifert.

Having earned just $700,000 last year, Jones may not be the most costly free-agent acquisition on the market. He’ll get paid well enough, but the 49ers won’t necessarily have to spend big. And he’d likely enjoy a more prominent role should San Francisco move on from free-agent veteran Anquan Boldin this offseason.

More from Niner Noise

San Francisco’s offense ranked dead last in the league last season. And younger receivers like Quinton Patton and Bruce Ellington have yet to showcase they can be true impact players.

Jones has done so. And he would be a nice and realistic option for the Niners in 2016.
