2016 NFL Scouting Combine: Players the San Francisco 49ers Should Watch
By Peter Panacy
The 2016 NFL Scouting Combine is set to take place in Indianapolis from February 23 through 29, and the San Francisco 49ers should pay particularly close attention to a number of prospects participating in the event.
The NFL Scouting Combine provides a chance for collegiate prospects to showcase their physical abilities to the rest of the football world in advance of the NFL draft.
2016 will be no exception as the invited participants will run, jump and lift their ways onto pro teams’ draft boards and scouting lists. The event takes place between Frebruary 23 and 29 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The San Francisco 49ers, armed with potentially 12 picks for the draft, will need to pay close attention to a number of the prospects who could wind up on the team’s radar.
In reality, each prospect provides an interesting glimpse. And the Niners’ scouts will be drawing up books on nearly every participant — a necessity given the overwhelming nature of the team’s needs this offseason.
But there are a few who should draw more interest than others.
For whatever reason — be it to prove they’ve overcome injuries or to showcase why they are worthy of a high pick — some prospects will need to have a standout combine performance.
And San Francisco should be watching closely.
So let’s take a look at some invitees and break down why the 49ers should be paying attention.
