San Francisco 49ers: 5 Players Who Disappointed in 2015
By Peter Panacy
The San Francisco 49ers’ 2015 season has come to a close, and Niner Noise takes a look at five players who underachieved last year en route to the Niners’ 5-11 finish.
The San Francisco 49ers’ 2015 season was marked by an array of problems stemming from the front office, through the coaching staff, the play-calling and all the way down to the roster itself.
A lot of the blame behind the Niners’ 5-11 record last year can be attributed to what took place the previous offseason. Player and coach departures hurt, and the coaching squad — led by now-released head coach Jim Tomsula — didn’t set up the team for much success.
But a lot of responsibility falls upon the players themselves. The NFL is a players’ league and, ultimately, outcomes are determined by the skill sets and abilities of players to impact the game itself.
Needless to say, the woefully pitiful 49ers had more than their fair share of underachievers over the course of 2015.
Every 49er on this list either failed to produce at an expected level or was not able to adequately grasp what was necessary to ensure the transition from 2014 to last year would be not so turbulent.
For some, the future with San Francisco may be bleak. Others may still have a chance to redeem themselves in the hope 2016 is much more promising.
At any rate, here are five 49ers who disappointed and underachieved over the course of the 2015 season.
