2015 Cap Hit: $6,909,000

Another ageless wonder is wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who recently became the 13th NFL player to reach 1,000 career receptions.

With 64 receptions for 718 yards, Boldin remains the 49ers’ most productive receiver in 2015 and is set to hit free agency this offseason. Despite the team’s problems, Boldin stressed a desire to remain in San Francisco, per Taylor Price of 49ers.com.

“I like it here,” Boldin added. “I like the people here. The organization has been great to me. I love my teammates. I enjoy them. And I have roots here, a lot of relationships that I’ve built in this community.

“When we cross that bridge, we’ll cross that bridge.”

The 49ers have fellow wideout Torrey Smith locked up for awhile. And wide receiver Quinton Patton is finally starting to show signs of life. But the book is still out on other receivers like Bruce Ellington and DeAndre Smelter (NFI).

Can San Francisco afford to rely solely on Smith and Co. if Boldin departs? More importantly, can the 49ers part ways with one of the few veteran leaders within the locker room?

No.
