The San Francisco 49ers haven’t always been laden with Hall of Fame talent. There are plenty of bad players who have worn the red and gold. In this Niner Noise feature, we take a look at the franchise’s worst players at each position.

Not long ago, Niner Noise came up with the San Francisco 49ers’ all-time team, which compiled the greatest players to ever wear the red and gold and compiled into a team format. That list had some legendary players, Hall of Famers and athletes who are household names for any 49er fan.

Yeah, this list will be the polar opposite.

The 49ers have certainly had their fair share of forgettable players — guys who, for one reason or another, earned the accolade of being among the franchise’s worst.

Names like Kentwan Balmer, Kwame Harris and A.J. Jenkins likely make Niner fans cringe with bad memories.

Well, get ready to relive some of those underachieving 49ers not-so greats. And to keep things a little more modern, we stick with players since 1970.

To accumulate the all-bad list, we need to establish some things. A bad, disappointing or underachieving player can be such simply because he wasn’t that good. But if there weren’t any expectations of him, it’s not worth putting him on this list.

So to qualify for inclusion on the worst-players list, the player must have joined the 49ers with some sort of above-average expectations. Additionally, rankings are considered if a bad player somehow stayed with the team in a prominent role for far too long.

At any rate, you’ll want to strap on your seat belts and get ready for some bad tastes in your mouth as Niner Noise relives a position-by-position look at the worst 49ers of all time.
