Niner Noise takes a look at the NFL’s five worst quarterback situations around the league and tries to determine which teams will be in trouble under center this year.

The 2017 season is just around the corner, and the majority of NFL teams have their 90-man rosters in place after free agency and the NFL Draft.

Offseason moves are meant to improve rosters and shore up weaknesses. And while most teams feel as if they’ve made strides in such areas, no amount of moves can make any team truly “perfect.”

And this can be magnified at the game’s most important position — quarterback.

Only a handful of NFL teams have truly elite-level quarterbacks under center. They’re almost always perennial playoff contenders. A good chunk of teams have OK-to-good signal-callers and can be right in the mix of things.

And then there are those whose quarterbacking situations are bad. Maybe even worse. We’ll focus on those teams in this slideshow.

Niner Noise takes a look around the league to see the five worst quarterbacking situations heading into the 2017 season.

Criteria will obviously be based on talent and/or potential, especially if a team is starting someone undeveloped (think rookies here). But there are other factors too. What does the depth chart look like? Is there a track record of success or failure?

Well start this discussion off with a team not quite on the list of worst QB situations, even though many feel it should be — the San Francisco 49ers.
