Rams vs. 49ers: WR Kyle Williams Should Start Over Braylon Edwards

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

This week 49ers WR Braylon Edwards said he has an injured shoulder which is why he has been limited the last three games.  Edwards has been noticeably absent in the passing game since he returned from knee surgery in week eight against the Browns.  In the win Edwards had his most productive game this season with four receptions for 42 yards.  In the four games since then he has only six receptions for 82 yards. The most likely reason for his lack of production is because the wide receiver injured his shoulder, he is not saying which one, in week [...]

49ers Mid Week Report

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Each Wednesday we are going to look back on the 3 things that transcribed in last week’s game that changed the tides then look forward to the game coming up. Last week’s 16-6 loss in the “Harbowl” stopped the San Francisco 49ers 8 game winning streak, but gave them a lot of time to prepare for the division match-up versus the Rams.   The Baltimore Ravens defense dominated our offensive line at the point of attack. QB Alex Smith, who was sacked 9 times on the night, played decent for the lack of protection. I don’t know if it was [...]

The 49ers: Back on Top in the West

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers 2011 | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NFC West was owned by the San Francisco 49ers. I mean almost, literally owned by the Niners for 22 seasons. San Francisco won the division an astounding 15 times between 1981 and 2002. Then, suddenly, the west’s powerhouse went silent for the remainder of the 2000’s. Now in 2011, the Niners are poised to take back the division they once dominated.

Rams vs. 49ers: Victory on Sunday Will Have Niner Fans Celebrating

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

This weekend’s game against division rivals St Louis Rams could not have come at a better time for the 49ers.  After losing a hard fought game against the Ravens on Thanksgiving which ended their eight-game winning streak, a win over the Rams on Sunday will have 49ers fans celebrating.  The 49ers can clinch their first NFC West title since 2002.  Before this season the 49ers haven’t had a winning season since they last won the NFC West.

Injuries To FB and Right Side Of Offensive Line Hurt 49ers vs. Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Follow @NN_Keepinitheel The 49ers got absolutely punked on the front line this Thanksgiving in the “Harbowl”.  Probably the only team that can stand up to the 49ers physically upfront kicked their butts.  I’m not going to spend a lot of time going into the obvious, the short week, the flight across the country, you know the complete and utter unfairness that was this game? Back to the point here, Fullback Moran Norris was active for the game, I saw him warmup in fact, I verified it online and TV from many sources, it’s a fact.  Did you see him out [...]

49ers lose to Ravens: Do Not Blame Alex

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As we all know now, the San Francisco 49ers had their eight game winning streak snapped by the Baltimore Ravens. It was a depressing night at the local sports bar for me and my fellow Niner fans. We could not stop screaming at the top of our lungs whenever QB Alex Smith did not throw the ball away on the way to getting sacked. There were many occasions where Alex could have thrown the ball away and conserve yardage for his team by not taking a sack. Once the game was over, a great deal of the blame for the [...]

Loss To Ravens Shouldn’t Worry 49ers-Fans

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Matt Hamm, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Before 49er fan should get upset about the offensive line breakdowns, Alex Smith’s missed throws, Braylon Edwards and his dropped passes, all the penalties stop.  Remember this, it was a short week, the 49ers had to go across the country and play a very good team with a physical defense.  Preparation was limited and the offensive line had some injuries on the right side. I may sound like a homer right now but the cards were definitely stacked against the niners on turkey day.  If the Ravens had traveled to San Francisco I really can’t see the team getting dominated [...]

49ers vs. Ravens: Niners Overwhelmed in 16-6 Loss

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the battle of the Harbaugh brothers the elder and more experienced one won the game.  Ravens head coach John Harbaugh prepared his team well on both sides of the football to expose and exploit weaknesses on offense and defense by the 49ers.  One area, pass protection, ultimately doomed the 49ers in the end.  The crowd of over 71,000 and traveling cross country after playing a game three days earlier was too much for the 49ers to overcome.  Niners fans experienced a losing feeling for the first time in eight games.  As many times as the 49ers have lost in [...]

49ers Play on Turkey Day Versus a Ravens Team of the Same Feather

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

The San Francisco 49ers have many similarities with the Baltimore Ravens all down their lineups. Sure we all know about the head coaches being brothers; San Francisco’s Jim and the Ravens John Harbaugh, but the coaches aren’t the only entity cut from the same cloth. On offense both teams have similar backfields. Quarterbacks Alex Smith and Joe Flacco are both solid but by no means are of “elite” status. Each team has a strong ground game led by feature backs Frank Gore and Ray Rice. Any 49er fan that has watched Rice run has to be reminded of a slightly younger Gore.
