AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

The time of year has come once again when the NFL preseason is coming to a close with the regular season right around the corner.  This also means for gamers everywhere that the newest addition of Madden 12 is released!  The new Madden game came out yesterday and I have played a demo of the game.  True to its Madden form the game does not disappoint and has some new features that make the game more realistic.  Madden 12 uses actual NFL Film’s cinematographers in order to produce accurate and realistic camera angles and shots.  Cold and hot streaks by [...]

49ers Sign Frank Gore to Three-Year Extension

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

On Tuesday Frank Gore signed a three-year, $21 million contract to remain with the 49ers.  The deal has $13.5 million in guaranteed money and will likely mean Gore will retire as a Niner.  Gore was seeking a contract similar to the one Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams received that had $21 million guaranteed.  In case you forgot Williams suffered an injury of his own last season missing double the games Gore missed, ten.  Williams is only 20 days older than Gore so I would guess he was seeking a similar amount of guaranteed money.  The 49ers rightly would have rejected [...]

Gore is Grumbling: What the 49ers Should Do with Frank Gore

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

During the preseason it is common practice to limit the amount of carries a team’s star running back takes in the four games before the regular season.  If a head coach decides to play their star running back it usually for a series or two before the replacements come in to lessen the possibility of the RB getting hurt for the upcoming season.  49ers running back Frank Gore was in uniform during Saturday’s horrible loss to the Texans but he did not play because coach Jim Harbaugh told him early in the week he would not play.  Read into that [...]

Analysis of 49ers 30-7 Loss to Texans

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

After watching the 49ers lose 30-7 to the Texans on Saturday night it was hard to pinpoint the mistakes they need to work on the most.  The 49ers in all aspects failed in the game not only on the field but on the sidelines.  Part of the reason why the 49ers offense and defense looked lost on most of the plays was because head coach Jim Harbaugh’s unique substitution pattern.  Harbaugh rotated second-stringer players against the Texans first-string units in the first-half.  Harbaugh was trying to get a better look at backups against stronger competition but that signaled early on [...]

Texans vs. 49ers: Q&A with ToroTimes.com

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 49ers will be hosting the Houston Texans on Saturday in a week 3 matchup of the preseason.  The 49ers offense showed a lot of improvement against the Raiders last week however the offense will have their hands full with the Texans new and improved defense.  The 49ers defense will get their biggest test of the preseason as week 3 will see the starters playing more and the 49ers secondary will have to show they handle big receivers like Andre Johnson and Jacoby Jones. We are continuing our weekly matchup Q&A tradition this time with ToroTimes.com.  Toro Times Editor Joe [...]

SF Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Beating at 49ers Game

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

The multiple acts of violence from Saturday’s Raiders vs. 49ers game are still fresh on the minds of 49er fans as no suspects have been arrested.  One of the incidents at the game was a beating of a 26-year-old fan from San Rafael inside the restrooms.  The man was knocked unconscious during the attack but is in fair condition at a hospital. To think fans would take their hatred of another team to such a level as beating someone up in the restroom is not the 49er way or anyone’s way.  With the San Francisco Police releasing a sketch of [...]

Frank Gore’s Sticky Situation

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Matt Hamm, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

This post was written by Matt Hamm It’s no secret Frank Gore isn’t happy with his contract situation.  Gore, who is entering the final season of his contract, will be paid about $5 million for his services this season and unless he receives a contract extension will enter free agency next off-season.  Gore is 3rd on the 49ers all-time rushing list needing just 935 yards to become the all-time leader and has been the workhorse of the 49ers offense since 2006.  It’s not a question of whether or not Gore deserves to get paid and his accomplishments thus far in [...]

49ers Offense Showing Life Thanks to O-Line

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Matt Hamm, Popular | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This post was written by Matt Hamm All the Alex Smith haters and downtrodden 49ers fans alike were treated to a very promising game, especially offensively by the 49ers in their 2nd preseason game vs. the Raiders last Saturday.  The offensive line received a lot of harsh criticism after the teams 1st preseason game against the blitz heavy Saints, the game vs. the Raiders saw a dramatic improvement.  Blitz pickup was the focus during last week’s practices and it showed all 4 quarters on Saturday.  Maybe the most encouraging thing was the play of RG Chilo Rachal who turned in [...]

49ers President Jed York: No More Preseason Games With Raiders

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, 49ers 2011, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

During and after the Raiders vs. 49ers preseason game on Saturday violence was widely reported in the cross bay rivalry that brought the Raider Nation and 49er Faithful to Candlestick Park.  Among the violence was two separate shootings, a fan beaten unconscious in a stadium bathroom and numerous fights in the stands.  There was extra security for the game as is the normal practice when Oakland and San Francisco meet in the preseason.  However violence had not escalated as it did during Saturday’s game.  In response 49ers team president Jed York discontinued any future games with the Raiders during the [...]
