Five Reasons For Singletary’s Firing
Check out my new post about Singletary’s firing up at NFL.com Blog Blitz: http://blogblitz.nfl.com/san-francisco-49ers/entry/five_reasons_for_singletary_s .
49ers Fail Big, Fire Singletary
With ten-days to prepare for the 49ers most important game of a season that will go down as one of the most embarrassing in Red and Gold history, the 49ers for the second straight week failed big in a must win game. In a 25-17 loss to the Rams the 49ers not only lost the game and a playoff spot but also their head coach as Mike Singletary was fired after the game. No need to see game highlights, or in the Niners case lowlights, of the 49ers to know how the 2010 season went down. One could just watch [...]
Rivalry Game: 49ers vs. Rams
The last few seasons the 49ers vs. Rams rivalry has not generated much excitement with both teams having losing records and rebuilding. Still, it is a rivalry game that goes back decades and held importance regardless of the team’s records. At the end of the 1990’s and the beginning of the 2000’s the rivalry most recently escalated with the 49ers in their latest hurrah of winning playoff teams and the Rams just beginning their string of NFC West titles and Super Bowl appearances. This Sunday’s game has added importance beyond the hatred of each other with the 49ers and Rams [...]
NFC Worst
All the Rams and Seahawks had to do on Sunday was get a win. A win by either team would have meant the 49ers would have been two games back of the NFC West division lead with two games to go and the talk of playoffs would stop. Although the 49ers would have still been mathematically alive with both teams winning the scenarios would have been hard for the 49ers to tie for the division lead and make the playoffs. The 49ers still have the Rams on the road and in the last game of the season the Cardinals at [...]
49ers Exposed, Show True Colors
The intensity needed by the 49ers in last night’s game never showed up and the 49ers were handed one of their worst beat downs of the season losing 34-7. Hey, at least they scored a touchdown and didn’t get shutout. Yes, the 49ers are still alive with nine defeats on the season but if you are still thinking this team will win the division you must have not watched last night’s game. Mike Singletary could not get his team ready and motivated enough to come out and step up on a nationally televised game. Behind Singletary’s coaching the 49ers have [...]
49ers vs. Chargers: Five Things to Watch Out For
San Francisco 49ers (5-8) vs. San Diego Chargers (7-6) Qualcomm Stadium Kickoff: 5:20 PM (PST) Success of Alex Smith: Alex Smith not only regained the starting role at quarterback last week but also regained his confidence. With a full playbook at his disposal offensive coordinator Mike Johnson called plays last week that Smith was comfortable with. Those plays included what Smith is most known for which is short passes and checkdown’s. That worked against the Seahawks but against the Chargers Johnson and Smith will need to take chances down the field with the long pass. Smith has made his most [...]
Tonight A Must Win
Head over to NFL.com Blog Blitz for my most recent post about tonight’s game: http://blogblitz.nfl.com/san-francisco-49ers/entry/tonight_a_must_win .
Short Week Presents Challenges
With a short week playing on Thursday Night Football the San Francisco 49ers quickly go from their biggest win of the season to the biggest game of the season. The 49ers don’t get to savor the victory for too long knowing they are going on the road against the Chargers who have lost only one time in four years in December under Norv Turner. Mike Singletary and his coaches only have 96 hours between Sunday’s win and Thursday’s kickoff to come up with a game plan to stop the Chargers who at 7-6 are a lot more dangerous than their record [...]
49ers Get Redemption Win
The 49ers stayed alive for the NFC West divisional crown with a beat down of the Seahawks yesterday winning 40-21. The 49ers also got redemption for the week one embarrassment at the hands of the Seahawks with the 49ers losing 31-6. I was in attendance at the game along with a friend who is a Seahawks fan. It was great to be able to talk trash from the very beginning of the game with Vernon Davis’ 42-yard touchdown run three and a half minutes into the game. With the score 30-7 in favor of the 49ers at halftime I couldn’t [...]
