What time will 49ers be on the clock in the 2024 NFL Draft?

Barring a trade-up, Niners fans will have to wait until nearly the end of Day 1 to see San Francisco's top selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 49ers aren't scheduled to pick in the 2024 NFL Draft until the next-to-last selection in Round 1. What time will that be?

The 2024 NFL Draft marks the first time since 2021 when the San Francisco 49ers last made a selection in Round 1.

That year, the Niners traded away two future first-round selections to move up to No. 3 overall to grab quarterback Trey Lance. In hindsight, it was a bad move. But, considering San Francisco now has an MVP candidate in quarterback Brock Purdy, as well as the fact the 49ers are a top Super Bowl contender, the Lance debacle matters little.

Purdy was selected with the final pick of the 2022 draft, which took place on day three.

But day one, which encompasses the entirety of Round 1, always garners the most interest from fans.

Currently, having lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs last February, the Niners own the 31st overall pick in this year's draft. Barring a trade-up, fans will have to wait until nearly the very end of Round 1 to see what San Francisco does with that selection.

So, what time will that be, exactly?

What time will 49ers make their 1st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft?

The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET. It'll likely take a few minutes before commissioner Roger Goodell puts the top-drafting Chicago Bears on the clock, but let's use that 8 p.m. start time as a base.

League rules mandate that teams have 10 minutes to make their selection, and most teams typically use almost all of that time even if they're locked in on a player.

ESPN lists Round 1's TV coverage as ending at 11:30 p.m. ET, meaning the entirety of the round will be covered in 3.5 hours.

Judging by that, and assuming the Chiefs make the final selection around 11:20 p.m ET, the 49ers will be on the clock at 11:10 p.m. ET (8:10 p.m. PT).

It's not precise, of course. Teams don't always use the full 10 minutes, in-round trades mean the clock can start over, commercials come into play and much more.

But, for those who simply want to watch the Niners make a pick and nothing else, the best bet is to wait until 11:00 p.m. ET or so.

Unless San Francisco trades up, of course.
