4 still-available free agents 49ers should target before Week 1 vs. Jets

49ers free-agent target No. 4. Edge Randy Gregory
This player look familiar to the fanbase in the Bay Area. Having played in 12 games for the Niners last season, edge Randy Gregory remains unsigned after a provocative offseason.
Gregory was subsequently released after not showing up for training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after signing there during the offseason. On an affordable one-year, prove-it type deal, Gregory might become another asset for San Francisco's defense, which is hurting for depth on the edges behind Nick Bosa and Leonard Floyd.
Gregory broke into the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and then played his next two years with the Denver Broncos before wearing a 49ers uniform. Gregory has recorded at least one sack in every season that he has played.
San Francisco was only one of three teams last season that allowed an average of less than 90 yards rushing. The team was third best in points allowed in the NFL, as well.
Gregory could be offered a similar deal to the one he inked with Tampa Bay. The contract was for one year and $3 million with another $2 million of potential earnings based on incentives.
During the playoffs for the 49ers, he tallied five tackles including one for a loss. San Francisco's locker room wouldn't be hurt by a familiar face that needs a place to call home, again.
