Christian McCaffrey is good, and so is the 49ers defense. But what other takeaways revealed themselves in Week 1?

49ers takeaway No. 1: Brock Purdy is back at it (and is just fine)

It'd be fair to worry about whether or not Brock Purdy would be at 100 percent after suffering a torn UCL in his throwing elbow during the NFC Championship game last January, then undergoing offseason surgery and also missing much of the 49ers' offseason workout program.

Perhaps Kyle Shanahan didn't ask Purdy to do too much in Week 1, essentially letting the remainder of the offensive stars do the heavy lifting.

But, it's hard to draw any conclusion other than Purdy is right back at where he was to close out last year's pre-championship game campaign, one in which he led the Niners to a seven-game win streak.

Purdy's day wasn't dominant, per se. But he did go 19-of-29 for 220 yards with the two passing touchdowns to Brandon Aiyuk, zero interceptions and a 111.3 passer rating. The second-year signal-caller also rushed three times for 20 yards, showing his athleticism enough to get out of trouble while picking up more yards when needed.

Those who wanted to "see more" from Purdy to determine if he is the real deal just got another piece of evidence in the quarterback's favor.
