Trade

Would this be a smart move? Probably not.

Because after you trade an All-Pro like Brandon Aiyuk to a division rival, all that remains is regret in the form of two contests per year. It’s common knowledge, he will burn you every time he puts on a jersey against you.

However, if that trade partner has two first-round picks, you pull the trigger and deal with the consequences later.

The 2024 NFL Draft is loaded with talent at the wide receiver position. Ten of the first 31 selections could arguably be receivers.

That said, you must factor in that nothing in the NFL is a sure thing, and regardless of of their talent those players will still need time to develop.

Up until now, quarterback Kyler Murray has not lived up to the hype of being No. 1 overall. Pairing him with Aiyuk could give the front office some much-needed clarity on his future with the franchise. A move like that will either help him evolve, or push them towards the decision to part ways with him.

Either way, it’s a step in the right direction.

In the case of the 49ers, it would give them two first-round picks in this year‘s draft. That’s a king's ransom by today's standards.

Not to mention, it could provide them with two positional players that could help them steal a Super Bowl victory.

Unfortunately, if this trade happens and doesn’t pan out, the next big change on the team could come from the front office.
